HI FRIENDS!

GETTING AROUND:

Getting around wasn't too bad, there was a free shuttle service provided by the hotel which ran both once in the morning and afternoon. This took us into the city centre and from there if you would like to venture out more you can hail a cab, depending on where you are travelling to and how far the fare varies, just be mindful and logical when haggling with prices. Also, there are two different types of cabs. You have the ones that are like a yellowy cream colour which are the equivalent to London's black cabs or New York's yellow taxis, and then the independent drivers. Both are willing to haggle, just be careful.

SOUKS:

As I mentioned in the vlog, be super duper careful in the souks! DO NOT ask for prices if you do not have the intention of buying just yet. As soon as you have asked for prices, they will not leave you alone. It's easy to get lost in there so I would advise following the tour guide at least once just to find your bearings in there, its helpful to use landmarks and specific locations to help you find your way (the minaret is a good example). And of course, HAGGLE.. don't haggle so much where they feel insulted at your bargaining price, however also don't allow them to take advantage of your tourist self lol. Most of the time, the price they initially give you, its half that price and sometimes even less. If they don't accept your offer, WALK AWAY.. they will call you back eventually and reason with you. They would rather make a sale then lose it.

MCDONALD'S!!!:

To get to McDonald's we took a cab from the city centre, literally like 10-15 mins. Food is HALAL of course, the menu's aren't too different. They had some different ice cream and drink options and a few other burgers. Nothing crazy. Some of the stuff that you might want might not be on the menu behind the tills so just request it, they more than likely have it.

The best way to get to know Marrakech is to visit one of its souks and absorb the unique lively and colorful atmosphere. Marrakech or Marrakesh (Berber: Murakush, Arabic مراكش murrākuš), known as the "Red City", is the most important former imperial city in Morocco's history. The city of Marrakesh is the capital of the mid-southwestern economic region of Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, near the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains.

Like many North African cities, the city of Marrakesh comprises both an old fortified city (the médina) and an adjacent modern city (called Gueliz) for a total population of 1,070,838.[1] It is served by Ménara International Airport (IATE code: RAK) and a rail link to Casablanca and the north.Marrakech has the largest traditional market (souk) in Morocco and also has one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world, Djemaa el Fna.[2] The square bustles with acrobats, story-tellers, water sellers, dancers and musicians. By night food stalls open in the square turning it into a huge busy open-air restaurant.

Marrakesh old Medina is a crazy place. Besides the shops with their aggressive sell techniques, one can also find and see snakes with their snake charmers, monkeys on chains, which we do not condone, and food a lot a lot of amazingly good food. The sellers of the food stalls are very aggressive at getting tourists to sit at their store, but do not despair, the food is amazing and worth it.
