Come along as I tour Chefchaouen, Morocco for my cousin's birthday with his friends. We sampled the local cuisine, went on a walking tour, learned the history of how the city became Blue, and of course took a lot of Instagram photos!

Hey YouTube! Just recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Chefchaouen. It is known as the "Blue Pearl" of Morocco since many of the buildings in the city are painted blue.

I couldn't help but think to myself that this city was prime real estate for a Secret Smurf Village. So I decided to make this video as a sort of "smurf-guided tour" of this Blue-tiful city. I hope you find some humor in this Smurftastic video as they show you the wonder found in Chefchaouen.

Morocco is truly magical! I was lucky to spend some time there while attending the CYFY Africa tech conference in Tangier and during this time, I also managed to explore the magical blue city also known as Chefchaouen!

The northern city of Chefchaouen was highly recommended to me by my friend who did the Peace Corps in Morocco, so it was my first stop. Here's what I got up to in my fist 48 hours of solo travel in Morocco - from getting to Chefchaouen from Tangier, to hiking God's Bridge, to a waiter trying to get me to try pen*s, to getting a shared taxi from Chefchaouen to Fez like the locals do. Chefchaouen est bâtie à 600 m d'altitude au pied des monts Kelaa et Meggou, qui forment le jebel Chefchaouen, sur la chaîne du Rif.

Elle dispose, dans le domaine du tourisme, de paysages diversifiés, propice à la randonnée. Le 20 novembre 2010, la ville a d'ailleurs été inscrite au patrimoine de l'UNESCO.

La fondation de cette ville avait pour but de protéger la population contre la conquête portugaise et espagnole. Chefchaouen compte aussi un important patrimoine religieux : 20 mosquées et oratoires, 11 zaouias et 17 mausolées. Ceci lui a valu le nom de El-Madina Es-Saliha.
