The small fortified settlement of Ait Benhaddou is only a 30-minute ride from Ourzazate and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Filled with many individual Kasbahs forming what appears to be one huge Kasbah inside walls and towers.

This fortified site was on the ancient caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech and sustains extensive damage during the rainy season. (Made out of mud and back to mud.) I'm sure you've seen Ait Benhaddou as background in many movies without knowing this is where they were filmed. The best part was watching tourists get across the river...
